PAD.MA (Public Access Digital Media Archive) is an on-line text-searchable, annotated collection of unedited video footage. It aims to facilitate ‘found footage’ art making, visual based research practices, interactive pedagogy and introduce critical faculties in cyber practices. The project has been initiated by Majlis as an offshoot of Godaam, our in-house archive; in collaboration with Oil21 from Berlin and Alternate Law Forum, Point of View and Chitrakarkhana. Features: • It facilitates free and easy online access and interaction to vast amount of video images, broadly on themes of City and Conflict which are not mediated through editing. • It integrates text and video footage to create a unique pedagogical reservoir which can be accessed and interpreted by multiple users. • Finally, under PGL, Pad.ma general license, members can download, distribute and adapt videos available on the website as well as upload their own material on the same terms. • The site will be open to public access from September 2008.
