With the aim of
fostering a deeper awareness of cultures and the production of
arts, multi-disciplinary cultural workshops were held annually
for an assorted group of interested college students. This
project was a direct and one of the earliest manifestations of
Majlis’ engagement with pedagogy, politics of access and
cultural practices. Scheduled during the Diwali vacation, the
week long workshops enjoyed tremendous response from the
participants, often leading to incidents of gate crashing. The
non-homogenous student group came from both elite and vernacular
colleges of Mumbai and Pune.
Each workshop was designed with major visual inputs, practical
sessions and participatory exercises along with conventional
lectures.
