Cinema City is an attempt to create an audiovisual
dateline of Asian cities with 100 year old cinema
histories through multi-disciplinary art and
research practices, such as cartography, film and
video productions, visual art works, seminars and
publications. The aim of this endeavour is to study
the City, in particular, the city that is
inextricably linked to its ‘cinemascape’. The
project will be carried out in two phases. The first
phase will culminate into an extensive exhibit on
Bombay/Mumbai: The Cinema City. The second phase
will be in collaboration with two other cinema
cities in Asia-Tehran and Hong Kong.
